The food pantry had hamburger and a can of beans this week, so I made a big pot of chili since it was cold. I used a packet of chili seasoning and a can of diced tomatoes from my pantry. I like the God's Storehouse pantry. They give out less food and no fresh food but they think through what you need to make a meal. Last week they included spaghetti sauce with the box of spaghetti. This week they put together cheesy noodles and cans of tuna for tuna casserole.
The picture is my pantry. We attempted a bathroom and kitchen remodel three years ago. The bathroom is finished, but there was so much damage to the flooring in the kitchen that we had to deal with. We were unable to replace the cabinets.
This was not an HGTV remodel because we didn't like the color of the cabinets. Our kitchen was remodeled about five years before we purchased the house in 1995. The countertops held up well, but the cabinets did not as they were a bottom of the line product. The interior shelves fell down nearly 20 years ago. We rigged some shelves and lived with it. By the time we tried the remodel half the cabinets had no floor and some had sides that were caving in. We kept enough cabinets to get by, the appliances are all fairly new and in good working order.
We bought this set of shelves to have a place to keep our food until we can finish the kitchen. Having a pantry that is functional is important. It is easier to check use by dates, quickly inventory what you have so you don't waste money buying something you already have.
