Supper for a chilly night. Baked potato, orange slices, cup of soup, brown bread. I think brown bread is a New England thing. I've made it from scratch three times in 62 years. That is how much I am willing to eat the canned version. I order it by the case now as I don't live in New England anymore and I've not seen it in a store where I live. Boston Baked Beans and brown bread is a thing in New England.
The bread is steamed in a used coffee can for three hours in a double boiler on the stove. It is made mostly from graham flour and molasses. It's wonderfully rich tasting. It tastes amazing warmed up and sliced with either butter or cream cheese on top. When you open a can, remove both ends of the can with a can opener. Keep on of the ends and use it to push the bread out the bottom of the can.
